About Me: Hi I am Benji! And I am a great dog if I do say so myself! I was rescued by hart in March, and after going to what I thought was my forever home, sadly I am back due to no fault of my own and am looking for my real forever family. I am 2 years old and a big softie. I like to cuddle and lay on the couch. They say that I am a bit of a big lap dog and just love to be pet and snuggled. I am super healthy, have had all of my shots and I am fixed too. I am good with smaller dogs, but maybe not larger ones for now. They call me a 'homebody' cause I really don't like car rides so maybe no dog parks for me. Oh I do like to go outside though. I like to play in the yard, go for walks and play with toys. I am learning not to jump up on people when I get excited and how to 'sit' and 'stay' and lots of other cool things. I have to confess though that I really like to organize shoes. If you got a shoe disorganizational issue, I am the dog for you! I also need a calm home with no small children. Do you know anyone that might want to make me theirs forever?

Health Notes: Benji was a surrender from our target rescue community. His overall condition upon coming to hart was good. Benji is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is neutered and microchipped.

Behavior Notes: Benji loves people so much! He is a bit of a jumper but this is being worked on. Benji does pull sometimes on leash but this is also getting worked on in the foster home. Benji is a huge cuddler and he thinks he's a lap dog. He loves to cuddle, or at least be at your feet. He prefers small dogs to large and would also do well as the only dog in a home because he loves people. If a small dog is barking, snapping, pawing at him, he will just ignore them. But if a large dog does the same thing, he can get quite reactive. If he must live with a large dog, that dog needs to be calm, submissive and non-reactive. Benji doesn't bark or make noise when on his own. He does learn from other dogs though and copies their behavior. When Beni's foster sibling gets excited, he gets excited. He doesn't need much exercise if there's a backyard as he is very content just running around the backyard and playing with toys. He's not destructive, but he has a funny little quirk - he loves to rearrange shoes! He doesn't chew them but just moves them around. For car rides, Benji needs to be crated or have some sort of barrier put between the back seat and front seat, or have someone sit in the back with him because he is terrified in the car, and will do everything to get into the front seat.
