About Me:  Hi I am Cassie! I am a pretty 2 year old girl. I was first surrendered to hart about a year and a half ago after I was attacked by another dog. Because of those injuries, I had to have some pretty big surgery! I am all healed up now, but I was left with a few scars and some depigmented areas where I was wounded. That doesn't bother me though as true beauty is on the inside, right? I have had all my shots, I am spayed and microchipped too. Sadly, because of this attack, I am a bit nervous around other dogs and sometimes have agressive guarding of my food and toys. Hey, I just don't want any other dogs 'messing with my stuff'. I am a fun-loving girl who really likes people, and kids and 'playing with' cats. Don't worry, I would never hurt a cat, but they sure are fun to chase! I am mostly fully house-trained now and will sleep in my crate at night if you want me to. Of course, your big soft bed would be OK too. Oh yeah, I can even follow some commands like 'sit' and 'paw' and I will always come when you call my name. I am such a good girl, just a little nervous about loud noises and quick movements. I would really prefer to be the only dog in the house, then I don't have to worry about being hurt again. Kids are good if you have them, even cats are OK. I also enjoy car rides and going for walks (maybe not at the dog park though). I need a family who likes all those things too. I really need a 'furever' family who will take good care of me. Most of all I want a family who will always protect and love me and I promise I will always do the same for them!!

Behavior Notes: Cassie is a very loving, energetic, happy dog. She's very curious, and loves car rides. Cassie is good with kids, fine with cats (other than she tends to chase them - but does not harm them), and is good with dogs. Cassie is showing some resource guarding around food but we are working with her on overcoming this.  She is able to jump over 6 foot fences so a secure outside environment would be very important for Cassie.

Health Notes: Cassie came to hart from a veterinary partner who admitted her after she was attacked by a resident dog in a household. Unable to afford the vet bill, Cassie was surrendered to the clinic and ultimately hart took her into care. Poor Cassie had extensive soft tissue injuries that required surgery, countless stitches and 7 drains. Cassie healed up remarkably well and while she will always have some scars and some depigmented areas where she sustained wounds, but we do not believe that there will be any future issues related to injuries. Unfortunately, Cassie's first adoption did not work out for her and she is ready to try again. Cassie is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is spayed and microchipped.

Think you have found your furever friend?
