About Me:  Hi Everybody! My name is Chevy and I am such a good boy. I am a 3 year old Shepherd who's been through a lot! hart rescued me in May after I was hit by a car. They helped me to get surgery to fix my pelvis, which was damaged in a past accident, and to replace my hip which was broken in this accident. That's right, I had a dog hip replacement! Even though it was a big surgery, I am recovering well and feeling really good. I have learned how to follow commands and I can 'come', 'sit', 'go to bed', and even 'shake a paw' when you ask me. I am now crate-trained and house-trained and I have had all of my shots too. Everyone who meets me says I am so sweet and polite. (Told you I was a good boy!) I love adults, kids and even other dogs for company. I bet I would even love cats if I had a chance to meet one. I am looking for a 'furever' family that would like to help me to recover fully from my surgery by taking me for lots of walks and letting me explore a little too. And when I was ready, letting me run around like crazy. I should tell you that I also like to play and chew, so I need lots of toys and bones to gnaw on. Even if you have kids and other dogs, I know I would fit right in! (Remember, I am such a good boy!) Sadly, I have had a rough past filled with injuries, surgeries, and lots of recovery time. I have to tell you that even though I may have been broken, I am not damaged goods. Now I just need a loving home in a loving family. Such a good boy deserves one, right?

Behavior Notes:  Chevy is a very happy boy. Chevy doesn't like medication, and can get nippy. He is crate trained, and has no issues. He was left loose, and had no issues there either. He is house trained, and asks when he needs out, but prefers to be on a walk to do his business. For exercise, he needs 2 short walks, but as he heals from surgery would love longer walks. Very recently, he was in a dog fight with the resident dog, but it has been determined that it happened while play time was being intiated by his foster dad, and because of his surgery this was the first time they played and when the resident dog tried to join in, the altercation happened. There has been no issues since, and he still gets along with the resident dog great. He is good with other dogs. He's great with children. He's good on leash, and loves to explore. He's a very affectionate dog, and loves to cuddle.

Health Notes:  Chevy came into hart from our target community after having been hit by a car. He had a fractured pelvis and a broken hip. We were unsure if the fractures were new or old, but surgery was required either way. Chevy is one tough pup and has healed well and is ready to find his furever home. Chevy is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is neutered and microchipped.

Think you have found your furever friend?
