Hi! I'm Fortune

  • Mixed Breed
  • 2 years old
  • Female

Weight (approx):  56 lbs

Energy: Medium

Children: Older would be best!

Dogs: No

Cats: No

Health Notes: Fortune had been quilled by a porcupine in the summer and when she came into care in October she still had some that working their way out as well as having an infected toenail that was causing her some distress. In addition it was thought that she might be at the initial stage of a pregnancy. With all of this going on, her owners from our target rescue community decided it was best for Fortune to come into our care and receive the medical supports that she needed. Fortune was spayed, given antibiotics for her infections and had the abscess on her face lanced. While in care Fortune tore her cruciate ligment and required a TPLO surgery but she has since healed from surgery and she is working on strength training to help in her recovery. Fortune is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is spayed and microchipped.

Ideal Home: Fortune is a very sweet girl who is always excited to meet new people. Fortune will benefit most from a home without other pets, and an enclosed yard for her to enjoy & play. She deserves someone that is active, with the experience & patience to continue her leash training & confidence around other dogs, people & traffic. A quieter suburban residence would likely limit her exposure to these triggers. Fortune has been working with a trainer to address some of her leash reactivity issues and has made substantial progress in this area but will need someone who is a strong handler and willing to continue to work on this with her.

Fortune is fully crated trained and house trained (although she does sometimes have accidents in new environments). Her foster home things potential adopters should know that Fortune has such a loving, resilient personality. She is playful, patient & smart, loves people & cuddles. She entertains herself easily and in a home free of other pets, she is a calm, quiet & a constant companion.
