Health Notes:
Kiwi came into hart's care very ill.
She was rushed to the vet where her test for parvovirus was
positive. Parvovirus is a particularly deadly
disease in young puppies, causing gastrointestinal tract damage and
dehydration. Fortunately, hart was able to
provide the supportive treatments that saved her life - IV fluids,
antibiotics, pain medication and anti-emetics. Kiwi rounded
the corner and has been eating well, playing hard and loving life
since her recovery. Some dogs that acquire
parvovirus may suffer from long term sensitivities with their
gastro intestinal system, but so far Kiwi has not demonstrated any
issues. Kiwi is up to date on DACPP, Bordatella,
and is spayed and microchipped. It has been suggested that Kiwi
receive her Rabies vaccine at 6 months and as
such this vaccination will become the
responsibility of the adoptive
parent.
Ideal Home: Kiwi will likely be a
big dog. Her foster home says she will likely be over 50lbs at
least and up to 100lbs, based on her growth so far so will not suit
someone looking for a small or medium dog. She is young enough that
I think any home with kids (big or small) would be good as she can
grow up with them. She is good with cats and dogs so having some in
the home would be a non-issue as well. She is a typically pup but
currently is fearful on leash and doesn't enjoy walks. She will
need someone who is willing to work with her on that as she will
likely be a medium to high energy dog and need plenty of
exercise.
