Hi! My name is Koda!

  • Koda
  • Mixed breed
  • 1 year old
  • Male

Weight (approx): 63 lbs

Energy: Low

Children: Older kids (6+)

Dogs: Good

Cats: Good

Health Notes: About a week before coming into hart's care, Koda tussled with a porcupine. He went straight to a veterinary partner to those dealt with. While in care, it was noted that Koda has a bit of an abnormal gait, so went in for an assessment and x-rays. Koda does show signs of an old injury to his pelvis and growth plate on his femur. The vet has indicated that Koda's gait is caused by the change in conformation from the old injuries rather than being sore. As long as he is not seeming stiff, sore or upset with the limb, surgery is not needed. In his foster home, Koda runs, walks, plays and hikes without any signs of being stiff or sore, but adoptive parents need to be aware and monitor Koda. Koda is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is neutered and microchipped.

Ideal Home:   Koda doesn't necessarily need a big yard as he doesn't 'play' that much or fetch but he does need a secure area as his recall needs work. He loves to lounge on the deck in the sun. Kids would be ok but no small kids as Koda is kind of like a bulldozer at times and could unintentionally hurt a smaller child by knocking them over. With proper introduction, Koda would likely do well with another dog. Cats should be no problem as he currently lives with 3. Koda would not do well being left home alone all day.  Someone who is home more often than not would be ideal. Koda needs a patient home willing to continue training him.
