About Me: Hi there! My name is Lucy. I cannot believe I have to say this, but where the heck is my forever family?! As a wee pup I survived Parvo but that sure does not slow me down. Nope, I am one beautiful girl full of personality and energy. In case my stunning looks have not won you over, let me tell you why I would be a perfect addition to your family. First of all, I am great with cats and dogs. The more energy my dog friends have the better! Play time is fun time! Secondly, you will stay active and in shape with me! Do not let these serious looks of mine fool you, I am a playful silly girl at heart and you will have to keep up! Thirdly, my beautiful and adorable puppy eyes. Enough said. Lastly, we can become the bestest of friends and learn new things together. I keep hearing about all these amazing things humans do with their dogs such as agility, training, and hiking. They sure sound like fun and I would love to try some! I want to make the most out of my second chance at life and I feel that with a family by my side we could conquer the world! Oh dear. There I go again getting all excited daydreaming about my forever home. They just must be out there somewhere! Right??

Health Notes: Lucy is a rescue from our target community who was presenting with lethargy, diarrhea and vomiting. Knowing this could likely be due to parvo virus, Lucy was transported to one of our vet partners immediately. Her diagnosis was parvo positive but her prognosis remained positive as well. Canine parvovirus (parvo for short) is a highly contagious viral disease that attacks rapidly reproducing cells. Today Lucy is a happy, healthy and energetic dog. After surviving parvo, some dogs are left with a sensitive gastro-intestinal system, but Lucy shows no signs of that sensitivity  Lucy is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is spayed and microchipped.

Behavior Notes: Lucy is a high energy, extremely curious puppy. She is always on the go, and wanting to discover new things. She currently lives with 3 other dogs of various sizes, and cats and good with all of them. She gets bored very easily in the evenings, and needs an hour long walk. She needs mental stimulation to help wear her out. She loves people. She is house trained, but if left out of the crate home alone, she will have accidents, but in the crate when home alone she does not have any accidents. She is crate trained and will go in for a treat. She does whine in the crate though, so her foster mom has found that a blanket over the crate and leaving a radio playing helps her settle down. She has not been left loose because she is a puppy and will have accidents and find things to chew on. Lucy does get irritated if she is not getting attention or if she gets bored, she'll bark and has a high pitched whine. She is getting better on leash but she is a puller at first, getting better as she walks. She knows basic commands like sit, kennel, no (when she gets into something inappropriate), and recall with the cue "Lucy want a treat?". She is a very active puppy, so someone with an active lifestyle would be best for her, or else she'll get into trouble. Obedience classes or agility would be fantastic to help direct all of her energy!
