About Me:  Hi I'm Mac! I am a great dog. I was rescued by HART in 2012 and was adopted shortly after, but it just didn't work out. Now I am 6 years old and I am still looking for my furever home. I am gentle and loving guy who is in good health with no medical concerns. I have had all of my shots and I am neutered and even microchipped. I gotta tell ya that I am good with older children, but really haven't been around younger kids much yet. I am OK with other dogs and even cats! People say I am "low energy", but I do like to go on walks and sniff around a lot. I really like to check things out and am kinda curious, so it would be great to have a family with a yard to explore or somebody to take me for lotsa walks! Listen, I'm not a puppy anymore. I just want a quiet life with a family who will spend time with me. We could go for drives in your car, walks in your neighborhood, and nap together on your couch. C'mon, you need a gentle loving best friend for life and I need one too!! Just think of how wonderful that would be for both of us......

Behavior Notes:  Mac is a great dog! When he first came to us, he was afraid of being in the house. He stuck close to the back door and it took him a week to become comfortable enough to explore the house. Given time, he started to explore the house on his own and is now loving indoor life. Potential adopters should be aware that he may regress to this behavior once he's moved in, but with time and patience, he will warm up and explore on his own. He is fully house trained, but adopters also need to be aware that his way of telling you he needs to go, is just standing at the door. He doesn't make a sound. He is not crate trained, because of his fears of the house, also he is a large dog, but he is wonderful when left loose in the house. He has not destroyed anything in his foster home, or had accidents. He currently lives with 1 large dog and 1 small dog and cats and there are no issues. Mac has only been exposed to children on walks, and has been indifferent to them. He does play roughly, so children over 15 are recommended who have been around dogs before and know how to act appropriately around dogs, child-free home would be best though. He knows a couple of basic commands like sit, come and his name. He is wonderful on leash. He is a low energy dog, so he only requires one 20-40 minute walk each day where he can be lazy and just sniff around. He loves to sniff! He does get short bursts of energy, though, where he'll play but for a short time. He will mouth when playing with his humans but if he puts too much pressure a simple "enough" or "gentle" and he stops. Mac also gives clear warning signs and body language when he doesn't like something.

Health Notes:  Mac originally came into hart's care in 2012. He was a shy boy but soon came out of his shell and loved the foster life. Mac was adopted shortly after coming into our care in 2012, but sadly Mac has recently found himself back with us. Mac is a loving happy guy. He is in good health with no concerns. He is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is neutered and microchipped.
