About Me: Ow, ow… please come pet me, I hurt my paw…! Hi, I'm Max! My foster home says that I have quite the personality, but I don't know where they get that from. I only play little tricks or fake owies once in a while to get out of things...if you haven't caught on yet, I didn't ACTUALLY hurt my paw. I just want your attention but can you blame me? Would you be a great forever friend for a silly guy like me? You could let me sleep on the couch or in your bed with you, play tag in the yard, or act like the small lap dog that I *think* I am. You could also let me walk you on the leash. Okay, maybe we'll keep working on that leash pulling but I have gotten better! But, please don't put me in the crate for more than 15 minutes at a time. I don't really like that thing. I'd like to live my life to the MAX with you. Ha! Get it? I know, not the best comedian, but I'll challenge you to a game of tag, evil vacuum, or is-your-food-high-up-enough-away-from-me any day! Now pleassssse, I can only trick you with this fake limp for so long, so let's see if I'm the "good boy" for you!

Health Notes: Max came to hart just slightly overweight but has since been on a calorie reduced diet and is a perfect weight now. Healthy and happy, Max is now ready for his forever home. Max is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is neutered and microchipped.

Behavior Notes: Max is a medium-high energy dog. He is a German Shepherd, and loves to work! So he is looking for an active home, who is willing to put him to work. The best home for him would be someone who knows the breed and is experienced. He currently lives with a cat, but the cat has never lived with a dog before so they have not interacted at all. He does get a bit excited, so a home with a cat who has lived with a dog before and is tolerant, would be best. He cannot go to a home with children, due to a bad experience. He would do great as the only dog, as he does have anxiety towards other dogs. He also has a sensitivity to light, so whines at reflections and gets extremely anxious. He has shown leash reactivity towards dogs. He loves people, and prefers to be with his people. Because of his leash reactivity he is a puller, and we asked for a trainer to get involved. He knows what to do on leash but he depends on his human to keep the routine up. Max is a very intelligent dog, and will do things to get attention, or get his way such as faking injury or whining so you feel bad for him and give him attention. He loves to get into the garbage when left alone. He has not shown destructive behaviours though. Max is a joy to have, and with the right family, will be the perfect pet as long as he has mental stimulation and physical exercise.
