About Me: Hi it's me, Mercury! I am a very high energy, and lovable guy. I love to go out on walks and I LOVE to play ball. Sometimes I get along with other dogs, but I think I should be the centre of your attention as the only dog in the house. I am doing really good at my commands, but sometime I get so excited on walks that I try and get ahead of you. If it weren't for that thing you call a leash, I would be long gone - before you even notice! If you think we could be pals, send in an application and see if you could be my new fur-ever family!

Behavior Notes: Mercury is a good boy, and very smart. He is learning stay, and shake a paw and knows bed, which means crate or bed. Mercury knows sit, and down, and is crate trained. Mercury is high energy and doesn't know when to take a cue from another dog to stop. When he is really riled up in playing, he can get pretty rough, and end up hurting the other dog. If there is another dog in the home, it is best for Mercury to be crated when home alone, to prevent anything from happening when the dogs are left alone. Hand feeding is recommended to help build the bond between Mercury and an adopter. He does not resource guard around people, and hand feeding will help ensure this.

Health Notes Mercury originally came into hart's care in 2014. He was immediately taken into one of our veterinary partners as he had been attacked by another dog. Surgery, rehabilitation and recovery all went well for Mercury and then he found the love of his life. While he will forever sport his unique ear (he lost a portion of his left ear in the fight) we don't anticipate any future issues from Mercury's previous health issues. Unfortunately, Mercury lost the love of his life when he passed away suddenly. We had a hart-to-heart with Mercury and he is now ready to open his heart to another human. While Mercury came back to hart carrying a bit of extra weight, he is very healthy and as energetic as ever. Mercury is up to date with DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is neutered and microchipped.
