While useful for a game of tag to figure out who is "it", this children's counting rhyme is not how we select our rescue dogs. Through the years that hart has worked diligently to build relationships with individuals who live and work in our target communities. Because our Field Volunteers are in the community everyday they are able to monitor the dog population and identify which dogs need the care and attention of rescue. Our Field Volunteers are critical to hart's ability to provide dogs in need a new start.

Anyone who pulls up next to my vehicle knows that I love dogs. Not because I have stickers plastered across my vehicle, instead I have dog nose prints all over the inside of my back windows. These streaks got me to thinking.

As an organization whose primary mandate is the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs in need we definitely advocate adoption vs purchase of a dog. There are too many wonderful dogs that are a product of the overpopulation problem that just need a home to call their own.
