Winter comes to Alberta every year. Temperatures drop, a
blanket of snow falls and we prepare ourselves for short days, long
nights and heavy coats.
Each year as winter approaches, dog rescuers start feeling more
anxious. We know how many homeless dogs will not be able to
withstand the freezing temperatures. We know how important it
is to find more foster placements.
We want to inspire you to make a difference for dogs in
need.
Some of you may find inspiration in before and after
photos. For you, here is a nod to hart's past with a before
and after shot of Rex and Nooksis. This pair of dogs is
ingrained in hart's history because of the recovery they
made. They literally changed from hopeless, underweight,
mange ridden dogs to mischevious, robust full coated
companions. Without hart's efforts they would not have
made the winter. They are now growing into their senior years
in more comfort then they ever dreamed.
Some of you may find inspiration in a testimonial from a
volunteer. For you, here is what a volunteer has to say about
being part of the solution "I volunteer with hart because it
completes me. Thousands of dogs are suffering in Alberta. Suffering
from hunger, abuse, neglect, disease, and a broken spirit. I am
choosing to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. My
hart dog is alive today because of the work that hart does. One
person can save a life. Injustice occurs every day and it is our
responsiblity to put a stop to the suffering. If that weren't
reason enough, I've made friendships through hart that will last
forever."
Real people like you and me are the reason that so many canines
have found a new leash on life. Wherever you can find
inspiration to help dogs, feel free to put it into action with
us.
Together we can make a difference!
