Why did you get into fostering?
I followed HART on facebook and made the decision to get
involved. I absolutely love dogs and wanted the opportunity to help
a great charity out by opening my home to dogs in need. As tough as
it has been so far to let the dogs go to their furever homes, it is
an amazing feeling knowing that they are getting a great
opportunity at a happy life.
Which hart dogs have you fostered?
I have fostered Jill, Pylon, and Irene.
What has been the most rewarding aspect to
fostering?
Getting the chance to spend time with the dogs. Meeting
potential foster homes and seeing the excitement in their faces
when they fall in love with their new family member for the first
time. Then knowing that the dog is going to a loving home for the
rest of his or her life.
When individuals think it will be too much work or
too emotionally taxing, what feedback do you have for
them?
There are definitely challenges when fostering, and you experience
so many emotions that you didn't think you would. However, it does
get easier, and the fact that you know you're helping a family, and
an animal really helps to ease the feelings. It is such an amazing
feeling, and so rewarding to see a puppy or dog grow up and change
day by day. You learn their personalities and get the chance to
pair them with the perfect home. Each dog leaves you with
something, just as you leave something with it.
If your foster dog(s) could speak, what do you think
they would say to you?
Thank you for loving me.
