How long have you been volunteering for hart?
I started at the end of 2013, beginning of 2014.

What is your volunteer role within hart?
I started with Hart with my fiancee as a photographing team, but as she's the one usually behind the camera, I'm usually doing whatever else I can to help. Handling dogs during photos, answering questions at events, or helping at intakes.

What do you do when you are not volunteering?
I'm an electrician, often out of town, though I've done many other things.

If you were a rescue dog, what kind would you be?
I'd probably be a Pit bull. Rough looking from a distance, but once you meet me, I'm very friendly, playful, and adventurous.

Why do you volunteer with hart?
I've always loved dogs. I don't believe there are any lost causes, and I really enjoy watching the dogs prove me right. Hart does some amazing things for dogs in need.

What experience in hart made you realize you were making a difference?
Getting to see the whole process, from the nasty living accommodations, to the rescue. The intake process of vaccines, cleaning, and assessments. Rehab if needed. Then doing photos to help show their potential for adoptions, and finally, the complete family dog that a lucky adopter gets to take home. The before and after is incredible, and the appreciation is obvious in the dog, and the dog's new family.

What advice would you have for someone who is considering volunteering?
Give it a shot. There are many different ways to volunteer, so even if you don't think you're a candidate, everyone has something to add.
