Erin Anderson

How long have you been volunteering for hart?
Since January 2012, but have worked with them at one of their regular vet clinics for over 6 years before that.

What is your volunteer role within hart?
Currently I am part of the medical team. I help with intakes, and dealing / visiting with our medical patients. I also do photography, foster medical cases and rescues / transport. I have been known to help wherever needed.

What do you do when you are not volunteering?
I work as a Animal Health Technologist.

If you were a rescue dog, what kind would you be?
That's hard as all the rescue dogs that have crossed my path, have a look on life that blows my mind daily. They have all been through so much, whether they were living on the street or injured, they all forgive and have endless love to give. They remind us how we should all be living, with all our hearts and love to give.

Why do you volunteer with hart?
I have come to learn the wonderful things that hart does for the dogs, and have worked with them medically for years. I wanted to do more to help out, so started with Photography. That branched out to medical team, which branched out to fostering. Every little job helps the dogs and the team.

What experience in hart made you realize you were making a difference?
When I see what my help does for a dog, whether it be taking them in from a bad situation, visiting them in hospital, caring for them in their recovery, or telling their story through the photos I take, watching the transformation to finding their furever home, reminds me daily I am making a difference.

What advice would you have for someone who is considering volunteering?
Do it. The difference that one person helping can make to all those dogs is amazing. Every little thing helps in some way.
