How long have you been volunteering for hart?
I started volunteering in September of 2013. I had also been involved with HART since 2011, working with them at a supporting Veterinary clinic.

What is your volunteer role within hart?
I have kind of jumped right in and am having a great time helping out in many different areas. I photograph the dogs for the website, facebook and other projects. I do events, coordinate shelter donations for the Shelter from the storm project, transport, sorting, rescues, medical team and anywhere I can be of help!

What do you do when you are not volunteering?
I am an Animal Health Technologist and love to do many other things as well. I have 3 cats and a very energetic Golden Retriever (if there is any other kind).

If you were a rescue dog, what kind would you be?
I would hope to be the kind of rescue dog that loves through anything. Like those rescued dogs that have been starved, abused, lost a limb (or 2), and can still look up at you with hope, love and loyalty. That no matter what they have had to endure, given the chance, they can still move forward like life is one big open field with milk bones everywhere!

Why do you volunteer with hart?
I wanted to extend my love of animals past working as an AHT in the clinic. It's amazing to help sick animals that come into the Veterinary clinic, but there are so many other animals that need help and don't even have a home yet. If I can do both, I feel like I can really make a difference.

What experience in hart made you realize you were making a difference?
All of them. Every single thing I have done, I come home at the end of the day feeling like I have made a difference. Whether it be a photograph that will help a dog become adopted, an event that brings awareness, a garage cleaned, a dog rescued from a life of fear or supplies that needs to be sorted/stored. It all makes a difference.

What advice would you have for someone who is considering volunteering?
Every little thing helps in some way.
